11/02/11: BLAST FROM THE PAST
We were asked in 2005 to collaborate with Volkswagen and design the 2005 GTI and produce a menswear collection to celebrate it. The inspiration loosely based upon boy racers chasing the Porsches on the autobahn and a story about Boris Bernhard Warr and his wife Wunder Warr with their Polish heritage and benefiting from the construction boom in Germany commissioned us to make a car for him. The Gumball Rally entered 3000 miles across Europe and a team of 17 with cameras, helicopters and journalists created the Adventure of Pleasure story. Diane Pernet documented the trip here http://www.ashadedviewonfashion.com/videos/ShadedMiami_Small.mov and the next step was the menswear show and party in a very "Hotel Particuliaer" 2 doors up from Mr Mitterrands house that went well until one of the models decided to jump on the bonnet. Champagne, Burgers Rain, Umbrellas and Jerry Bouthier spinning tunes inside and on the dance floor in the middle of the garden.
The car itself was built in 4 weeks in Wolfsberg Individuals garage to a very high spec there were certain items that we had to keep to not make it a rally car the rivits on the windows were not right. The exterior/interior finishing and paint was amazing especially the metal bonet, bumpers and door rounds was very special. So much detail to such a high standard to list. The engine 234PS 250KPH did the job of travelling 3000 miles straight from the garage with 0 miles on the clock very gracefully. We'd like to thank Volkswagen, Jurgen and Jason for this experimental action.
